Redevelopment of a derelict industrial building in Shoreditch into a Grade A office premises.

Johnstone Projects was appointed to provide Project Management and Employers Agent duties to redevelop an old industrial premises, previously used in the textiles industry. The building was in dilapidated condition. The works comprised of a new structural frame inside the building’s shell, primarily, to receive rooftop apartments at a later date. The design was sympathetic to the industrial heritage of the original building. This was achieved by designing open and exposed ceilings, including mechanical and electrical equipment, such as ventilation ducts, light fittings etc. Materials, in their natural form, such as concrete stairs, copper reception desk, exposed original brickwork walls etc, were used to celebrate the industrial feel.

The completed building was well sought after from ambitious companies looking to relocate to the most popular up and coming area in London, which was eventually let to a global financial institution.
